Cannot Disable Network Connection

Windows XP SP2 (Recently installed Software: Windows Defender, AutoCad, Adobe CS)

When trying to disable the Local Area Connection it would come up with the following Error Message: “It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection maybe using one or more protocols that do not support Plug and play, or it may have been initiated by another user or the system account.”

All of the following was done to attempt to fix the problem. The last command was the one that fixed it for me, so it is possible that you could start with it and fix your problem. It is also possible that everything built on each other to provide the solution.

Uninstall Windows Defender if Present.

Start | RUN | cmd
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log
After Running Each of these Reboot the System

Start | RUN | cmd
net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 oldcatroot2
Reboot your computer.

I hypothesized that either AutoCad or Windows Defender installed incorrectly thereby corrupting the network settings.
